Issue with new traffic signal on 99W near Dundee- November 10, 2016
There is a sensor issue at the new signal on 99W near Dundee. ODOT is working to remedy the problem. We apologize for any inconvenience or travel delays you have experienced.
ODOT is rewiring and replacing some camera/software cards. The problem is due to the light/motion detectors being "too sensitive" and the fog is causing them to change the signal to red. If the bypass was open, the sensitivity of the detectors to the fog would not be noticeable because there would be traffic making the turn. The through-traffic signal should be green most of the time until the bypass opens in late 2017. What you are seeing now is not working correctly and is being fixed.
There are a couple of private properties on the south side of 99W that use this signal now, so we need it operational. You will still see a red light occasionally before the bypass opens to accommodate these properties, but it will be only when a vehicle is there to make the turn and it will be infrequent.
We hope to have it fixed soon.
